If you are creating a new team, have been promoted to a new leadership position, or are a current leader looking for assistance, welcome! This section of our website contains resources and guidance for teams in the ECCC, primarily for team leadership.
Almost all of our teams are student-run, which comes with a set of challenges - often leadership has frequent turnover (as students graduate and join the school), students limited experience in running a team, and limited resources and finances.
That being said, the ECCC is a great place to learn and gain experience in leadership, organizational budgeting, and more.
We have provided written guidance and tips below, but you will certainly have questions and face challenges not covered below. If you would like additional assistance, please reach out to ECCC Leadership via email, and ask questions of us and other team leaders via the ECCC Discord Server.

[WIP] There's more work to organize a team than can (or should) be done by one person, especially while also balancing schoolwork! We've listed various roles that may help you delegate work in your team, along with some suggestions to ensure members are prepared to take on their role.
[WIP] Make sure your team is registered with your school and USA Cycling, and consider documenting your team's mission.
[WIP] Unfortunately racing isn't free! Here's some financial sources you should consider, a summary of costs that teams may face throughout the year, and some tips on how to track and record your team's financial status.
[WIP] Most teams get clothing to have a unified, professional look - typically this involves getting custom cycling kit manufactured, although you can always go to the thrift store and get a matching style (such as Hawaiian shirts) if you're on a budget!
[WIP] More people on your team equals more hands to help organize, teammates to work with during races, more points for the omnium, and more fun! Here's our tips on recruiting team members, tracking who's on the team, and ways to organize and ensure people come to events!
[WIP] Help new members participate with your team - here's a breakdown on what we recommend you inform new members about.
[WIP] It's important to gather outside official ECCC races. Consider having team meetings, leadership meetings, training/fun rides, exercise/workout/spin sessions, social events, and more.
[WIP] You've got your members, you've got an event you want to go to, let's make it happen! (And plan for everything you'll need along the way!)
[WIP] The ECCC wouldn't be able to have events if students didn't contribute to running races. Plus, successful races can generate money for your team!
[WIP] Are you looking at this list of work that goes into putting together a team and thinking "woah, that's a lot of things to keep track of"? Wouldn't it be awesome if you were handed a guidebook on how your team operates, including a list of all the resources, arrangements, and contacts arranged by past team leadership, tips on how to operate with your school's policies, and more? If your team doesn't have a handbook written, you should start one to pass on to future leadership.
